Meet Fawa
Fawa Conradie studied architecture and graphic design. He worked as one of the country’s first 3-D animators. Started a company (THE WORx) in Jhb to service the advertising industry with digital special effects and animation during the 1990’s. He sold this company after 11 years. Fawa moved to the Garden Route in the early 2000’s, and then to Stellenbosch for 8 years where he served as the Vice Chairman of the Stellenbosch Arts Association.
Fawa is currently living in the Garden Route of South Africa and serves as the Chairman of the Knysna Arts Society. He started the Urban Sketchers Stellenbosch 6 years ago and also recently established Urban Sketchers Knysna. Fawa has been published as an illustrator and writer of both children’s and adult short stories, poems and prose. He makes art and presents workshops in various media: watercolours, drawing, sketching, ceramics, mono printing, Gyotaku, oils and mixed media.
He has always been involved on a voluntary basis with people living with special needs, offering art classes as therapy, organising fundraisers, providing private tuition, etc.
Fawa’s married daughter and grandson live in Bordeaux, France, his son lives in Cape Town. He has a border collie and about a 100 bonsais. He plans to host art retreats and week long workshops at his new home in Knysna.

What Is YAY! Art Workshops?
Fawa Conradie is an artist who has made and taught multiple media art over the last twelve years; to fellow-artists, children and people with special needs. He is also the founder member of Stellenbosch and Knysna Urban Sketchers.
He hosts regular workshops in the Western Cape. Keep an eye on his social media for the next event.

After completing multiple art residencies at Cité internationale des arts in Paris, France, Fawa is inspired to host similar art retreats at his Knysna home.
